How to read an IlmiyChek report
Start with the identified object rather than the colour of the result. If the title, number or document type was recognised incorrectly, later findings may concern another record and require review.
Check the object and sources
Compare filename, checksum, title, authors and identifiers in the opening section. Then see which sources actually responded, where a record was found and whether a direct evidence link is present.
Read the field table
The table separates values in the document from those in the external record. Significance depends on the field: an exact DOI carries more weight than punctuation. An unavailable source must not share the same category as “not found”.
Review the conclusion and QR
The conclusion summarises retained evidence but does not remove limitations. The QR code opens a public card with status and control details. A confidential check can have a limited public card.
Example
If Crossref reports “source unavailable” while the DOI resolver reports “record not found”, the findings belong in separate rows. The first says nothing about record existence; the second applies only to that query and source. The conclusion must not collapse them into one red indicator without this explanation.
