Record existence, indexing and conformity of the uploaded copy are treated as separate questions rather than collapsed into one vague answer.

What is checked

For an article, the service compares DOI, title, authors, journal, year, volume, issue and pages. For a patent it examines publication or application numbers, applicant, right holder, dates and jurisdiction. Other documents are assessed through recognised details, links, QR codes and technical file properties.

What the user receives

The final report records discovered entries, direct source links, a field-by-field comparison, inconsistencies, technical observations and a clear outcome. Its QR code opens a public verification card, while the conclusion remains tied to the specific uploaded copy.

Limits of the method

A source outage is not treated as evidence that a publication does not exist. A valid DOI or catalogue record does not establish scientific truth or prove that every page of a PDF is unchanged. The report states these limits directly.
