Document verification methodology
The method is organised around verifiable fields and retained evidence. It does not equate search visibility with an official record, and it does not label a document false because one source failed to respond.
Identifying the object
The first task is to determine exactly which document is under review. First-page details, explicit identifiers, publisher information and authority numbers take priority. DOI values and numbers in references remain candidates and cannot replace the object’s identity.
Evidence hierarchy
An official register and an exact registration-agency record carry the greatest weight. A publisher page supports bibliographic comparison. Aggregators, ordinary web search and mentions are supplementary and cannot establish the final status alone.
Assessment rules
Confirmation requires a coherent set of material fields. Partial agreement, material conflict, no record and insufficient evidence have separate outcomes. Query date and source availability are retained.
Reproducibility and limits
Direct links and a comparison table let another reviewer repeat the central steps. The service does not assess scientific truth, legal validity outside an available register or the identity of the person presenting a document.
