Scientific seminar before defence: what should be reviewed
OAK treats the scientific seminar as a substantive review of the dissertation before the council meeting. It is a point at which specialists can identify weaknesses in the work and the supporting file.
What to discuss
The presentation and questions should permit scrutiny of the problem, novelty, results and supporting evidence. The dissertation, abstract and attestation file should agree. Record issues so that corrections can be checked before the case progresses.
Connection with council ratings
OAK describes a gradual increase in seminar responsibility for the completeness and quality of submitted materials. An open system for rating academic councils begins in 2027, and the quality of preliminary review is relevant to that assessment. Applicant preparation
Bring a publication list with verifiable links, a summary of results and consistent dissertation and abstract versions. This improves scrutiny but cannot guarantee a favourable council decision.
